Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger Endorses Deb McGrath for Congress

Menomonie, WIToday, Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger announced her endorsement of Deb McGrath in her campaign for Wisconsin’s third Congressional District. Deb is a former Army Captain, CIA officer, and working mom of three. Congresswoman Spanberger represents Virginia’s seventh Congressional district in Congress, and is also a former CIA officer.

“Deb McGrath is an extraordinary example of service and commitment to our country,” said Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger. “After serving as an Army officer, she spent the rest of her career in the CIA collecting vital intelligence to inform our presidents and policymakers - of both parties - and to keep our country safe. Now, as our country faces critical challenges, Deb is ready for another tour of duty. She knows what is at stake in this election - and she is a demonstrated leader. She will be a champion for growing our economy, lowering health care costs, and rebuilding our infrastructure -  both in western Wisconsin and across the country. I am proud to endorse Deb, and look forward to serving alongside her in Congress.”

“I am honored to earn Congresswoman Spanberger’s support and am inspired in our shared fight to protect American democracy,” said Deb McGrath. “Abigail is a leader in Congress, and has been a dedicated advocate for investing in American families and making our communities stronger. Those are values we hold dear here in western Wisconsin and I am proud to have her by my side in my campaign for Congress.”

About Deb McGrath

Born and raised in western Wisconsin, Deb McGrath is a former Army Captain, CIA officer, and working mother of three children. She and her husband, Colonel Kevin McGrath (U.S. Army, Retired), raised their three children with an emphasis on public and community service. Deb’s father is the late Democratic Congressman Al Baldus and her mother, Lolly, served in education for over 20 years. Both of her parents came from farm families. Deb grew up listening to the concerns of those in her community.

Deb McGrath served 25 years in national security positions requiring non-partisan strategies for mission accomplishment. McGrath will fight for issues that keep America strong: affordable and accessible healthcare, economic opportunity, smart infrastructure investments, strong voting rights, and respect for human dignity. She will advocate to bring broadband to all communities in Wisconsin, as this is critical for the economic success of families, small businesses, and farms. Deb is a rational thinker who will tackle these issues with common sense and collaboration.

While in the U.S. Army, Deb McGrath served on the demilitarized zone in Korea and at several U.S. military bases. In the CIA, her assignments included Southeast and South Asia, West Africa, the former Soviet Union, and Central Europe, including two combat zones. She was awarded parachutist wings, the U.S. Army Meritorious Service Medal, and the CIA Career Medal, among several other awards.

WI-03 is a competitive seat that may determine the partisan majority in the U.S. House of Representatives in 2022. The current Congressman, Democrat Ron Kind, won the district by 3 points in 2020.
